Canada’s Research-Grounded Vision Therapy Practice.

VUE was founded as something that didn’t exist in Canada before 2014: a vision therapy clinic that integrates clinical care and ongoing research into a single practice, tracking outcomes on every patient to validate what works, and why.

Built on Research. Grounded in Clinical Reality.

VUE Vision Therapy was founded in Guelph, Ontario in 2014 as Canada’s first clinical translational research model for vision therapy, a practice designed from the ground up to connect research findings directly to patient care.

The founding vision was clear: most children struggling in school had never received a thorough evaluation of how their eyes actually work together. Routine eye exams measure acuity. They rarely measure vergence facility, accommodative function, oculomotor control, or visual information processing, the visual skills that support reading and learning. That gap had a cost, and VUE was built to address it.

From the beginning, VUE’s clinical protocol tracked outcome data on every patient. That research has been funded in part by the Canadian Government through SR&ED grants and has been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at international conferences.

“Many of the families we see have bright children who are struggling in school, often despite 20/20 eyesight. Our focus is identifying and strengthening inefficient visual systems so learning can become more accessible and less exhausting.”

VUE Vision Therapy, Clinical Mission

Today, VUE operates two clinic locations, Guelph and North York, serving families across Ontario. The clinical team holds post-graduate training in rehabilitative vision therapy and a special interest in visually inefficient learners.

A Different Kind of Vision Practice.

01

Research-Informed

Our clinical protocol is grounded in peer-reviewed research

VUE’s assessment and therapy protocols have been developed and refined through years of clinical research, published in journals including Vision Development & Rehabilitation and presented at COVD International.

02

Visually Inefficient Learners

We see the children whose visual system hasn’t been fully evaluated

Our clinical team has a special interest in children who have already been assessed, supported, and are still struggling.

03

Beyond Acuity

We measure what a standard eye exam doesn’t

A functional vision assessment at VUE evaluates vergence, accommodation, eye movement control, and visual processing, the skills that underlie reading and learning, not just clarity at distance.

04

University Affiliated

Connected to the University of Waterloo School of Optometry

VUE’s founding research was conducted in collaboration with the University of Waterloo School of Optometry & Vision Science, one of Canada’s leading optometric research institutions.

The C.A.R.E. Framework

Every patient interaction at VUE is guided by four principles that reflect how we believe vision therapy should be practised, carefully, honestly, and with the family at the centre.

A Practice with a Published Evidence Base.

VUE’s clinical work is grounded in a body of research that most vision therapy practices cannot point to. Conducted within our clinic network, in collaboration with the University of Waterloo, and funded in part by the Canadian Government.

The People Behind the Practice.

VUE’s clinical and operational team is built around a shared commitment to the families we serve, and to doing this work with rigour, honesty, and care.
